Facebook is a social networking application formerly known as “TheFacebook”. It was founded by Mark Zuckerberg, along with his fellow Harvard college students and roommates; Eduardo Saverin, Andrew McCollum, Dustin Moskovitz and Chris Hughes and was lunched on the 4th of February, 2004. Facebook membership was initially for Harvard students but was later expanded to the rest of the world. Anyone who claims to be at least 13 years old is allowed to become a registered Facebook user.
The app has evolved from being a college student app to an app that is being used by virtually everyone all over the world. The beauty of the app is it isn’t just a platform that connects friends, it also serves as an avenue where you can plan events, send invites to friends and even promote your business which is what brings about the thought of being worth its money.
Zuckerberg and Saverin each invested $1,000 to launch the site which is now worth $629.6 billion as at 2018. The company has gone through a lot of ups and down but one of the founders and CEO is currently ranked 7th on Forbes list of the richest in the world whose net worth is $54.7 billion. It is also worthy of note that he gained his wealth from owning Facebook.
Amazingly, Facebook has not just made its founders but also its users as many people have been able to successfully transact businesses. With Facebook, it is possible to showcase your business to people who do not even know you by simply paying for advertisements and connecting both ways.
